What has research on Semax examined?
Semax has been studied in rodent models, including work on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression in the rat brain. Clinical studies in patients with ischaemic stroke have been published in Russian journals; large international controlled trials were not found.

What adverse events have studies of Semax reported?
The only human data are Russian clinical reports. In 187 patients with cerebrovascular insufficiency, the authors describe a 'minor percent of side-effects' without naming them (PMID 15792140). In 73 patients with posthypoxic encephalopathy, EEG showed episodes of paroxysmal activity after injection in some cases (PMID 10199046).

How do you reconstitute and store Semax?
Store the sealed vial frozen (about -20 degrees Celsius), dry and away from light until it is reconstituted.
After reconstitution with a sterile solvent, keep the solution at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Record the solvent, volume and date on the vial label.
